Prep your AC for Winter!
As a Canadian company we understand that you probably don’t want to be thinking about Winter in September and August. But be cautioned, without the proper prepping of your AC before the cold hits you could potentially be looking at some costly repairs. Your air conditioner can be a total life saver against the hot and dry Alberta summers! Treat it right in the winter and it will last you for years to come!
Although our technicians are always here to provide you with seasonal services and ongoing maintenance, here are some quick tips on how you can properly hibernate your AC over the winter months:
- Find the air conditioning circuit near your unit and turn the unit off. The last thing you want is for your AC to turn on during an unusually warm winter day, creating the risk of potential freezing!
- Give it a wash with your hose to remove any debris that has accumulated over the summer.
- Cover the HVAC unit with a plastic or vinyl cover. Choose a cover that is waterproof. Contact us if you’d like your brand specific cover.
- Check your air conditioner once a week to make sure the cover is secure. Brush water, snow and ice off the unit. Remove twigs, pinecones and leaves from the cover.
Even with the routine maintenance you perform, we recommend that your AC unit be inspected at least once a year by one of our expert service technicians. We will make sure your system operates safely and gives you the best performance at the lowest cost.
On top of Air Conditioning maintenance and prep there are many other home maintenance tasks that you can do to prep for the fall and winter seasons.
